Chris' Restaurant Guide (biased, of course)
Kona Inn favorite mai tai & pupus. Try the rice-paper ahi pupu in the dining room.
Quinn's fish sandwich, ono fish-n-chips.
Basil's ok Italian and pizza
Lulu's loud music, large portions, service can be very slow
Durty Jake's good place for breakfast
Hard Rock Cafe usual Hard Rock food plus some local flair like the pork sandwich. Good place for a burger or fajitas
Senior Billy's Cantina Mexican food California-style. Good food at good prices. Nice people.
Drysdale's Two a little pricey but good fish sandwich.
Jameson's By The Sea try the mac-nut crusted ono. Great calimari appetizer. Passion-orange iced-tea. Nice view
Buns In The Sun take-out sandwiches - yummy bread, breakfast sandwiches & pastries
Kona Brewery Best pizza in the area - great selection of local beer
Huggo's Usually do lunch there - best view right on the water. Good place to go right from the airport.
Michaelangelo's We were not impressed - food okay, service not.
Sam Choy's Not much on atmosphere but good Hawaiian/pacific rim food in large quantities
Aloha Theatre Cafe Been there twice, wouldn't go back. Many people rave about it, but we just didn't get it. Mediocre. It has changed hands since then and we haven't tried it recently.
Ocean View Inn Best place to try local food
Scandinavian Shave Ice A local favorite. Ice cream too. Ask for a "special".
The Canoe House Been there once - fabulous food, atmosphere, service. Sticker shock, but a good place for a special occasion.
Beachcomber's (was The Chart House) Food & drinks are good quality. Nice views. The salad bar is now included with your entree. They sometimes have a coupon in the Thursday edition of West Hawaii Today.
Oodles Of Noodles Eclectic, off-beat and yummy. Shave ice is huge - had one for dinner once. Heard they are closing summer 2004 and will re-open under new management.
